Mercenary Soldier Sketch

There's a story behind this drawing.

At the time I drew this, GameTrailers.com was releasing its Resident Evil Retrospective. Now, I've never been into the series, or any horror game period, but watching these videos got me really wanting to try out the games.

As I repeatedly watched the episodes and read every article I could in the RE wiki, I kept thinking to myself "Man, is Umbrella run by complete dumbasses? How could they NOT contain the outbreaks?". I started thinking about what I'd do to if I was planning Umbrella's containment procedures, specifically how I'd equipped their soldiers. Initial ideas were promising but ridiculously impractical. two examples built in the pressurized exoskeleton I dreampt up included a pneumatic propelled fists (to punch faster, harder I guess) as well as a powered flipper, not unlike ones in a pinball machine, built into the suits chest to literally fling a clutching zombie off the wearer.

eventually I decided I was over thinking it and drew a simpler, non zombie fighting version. A motion detector on the back is all that remains of my original idea.
